Saint Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute (SLBMI), an academic affiliate of Saint Louis University School of Medicine, invites applicants for several important clinical positions.  Saint Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute is a multidisciplinary group of clinicians including psychologists, social workers, physicians, nurses, spiritual directors, nutritionists, and physical therapists. Our primary mission is to provide state-of-the-art specialized services for various disorders and patient populations. Contact information is listed for each position.

Clinician: Headache and Pain Management Program:

Join a multidisciplinary team providing rehabilitation services for headache and other chronic pain conditions. The position requires clinical skills in treating such conditions as headache, chronic pain, stress-related conditions, and depression. Expertise in other medical/psychological conditions valued. Experience with adults, adolescents, and children desirable. Able to work collaboratively with other health care professionals. Knowledge about latest treatment for these conditions.

Clinician: Program for Psychology and Religion:

The Program for Psychology and Religion is a multidisciplinary team which conducts assessment and treatment services, including an intensive outpatient program, for Catholic clergy, men and women religious, pastors and ministers from other faith communities, and other people of faith. The ideal candidate will have intimate knowledge of Catholicism, Catholic religious life, and religious life for non-Catholic pastors and ministers, and will be experienced in one or more of the services:

  • assessment of candidates for ministry,
  • cognitive-behavioral treatment of scrupulosity and depression
  • treatment of addictions
  • cognitive-behavioral treatment of obesity

Clinician:

  1. Health Clinician: The ideal candidate will be able to work collaboratively with physicians to modify health risk behaviors and contribute to the effectiveness of medical treatments. Expertise in the cognitive-behavioral treatment of obesity across the life-span is especially desirable. The goal is to establish an effective weight loss program based on the latest evidence of empirically supported treatment. Individuals with expertise in smoking cessation, insomnia, and recurrent abdominal pain will also be considered. Opportunity to also work with Catholic Religious Professionals through an existing Weight Management Program integrating spirituality with treatment.

  2. Family-based treatment of youth with eating disorders . Seeking psychologist with expertise in working with individuals under 15 years of age, using family-based treatment. In addition to experience with anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa in young adolescents, able to work with children with eating disturbance in those under 14 years of age.

  3. Reactive attachment disorder : Psychologist able to work with children and adolescents who have disrupted attachment relationships. Knowledgeable about latest treatments for this condition and able to work with families. Able to work collaboratively with other health care professionals.

  4. Adolescent depression and bipolar : The ideal candidate would be knowledgeable about cognitive-behavioral treatment of adolescent affective disorders. Familiar with the most common medications used with this population. Able to work collaboratively with other health care professionals.

All candidates for the above four positions would be skilled in treating a variety of conditions while developing a particular specialty niche. Preferred therapeutic approaches would be empirically supported treatments, and willingness to incorporate family members and other health care professionals into a comprehensive treatment. Must be Missouri licensed or license eligible.

Clinician: Anxiety Disorders Center

Opening for a clinician familiar with evidence-based treatments for anxiety disorders. Duties include evaluation and assessment, outpatient treatment, and following patients in the intensive outpatient program. If interested, opportunities to participate in research or teaching mission. Work with a dynamic and supportive interdisciplinary team in a nationally recognized program.
