Work Injury/Work Comp Rehabilitation

A work injury may be a single specific injury which quickly and easily resolves, or it may be a chronic or recurrent problem that lasts for months or years, preventing the worker from doing their job.  In this case, acute injury may overlay other chronic problems that may have to be addressed in order to resolve problems and return the employee to full work status.  Repetitive Trauma may be experienced by workers who do the same tasks over and over for years on end, necessitating correction of faulty postures and biomechanics to resolve the condition.

SLBMI’s board-certified orthopedic Physical Therapist has extensive experience in work comp case management, and understands the challenge of treating both acute injuries and long-standing cases.  The program starts with a thorough physical therapy assessment to identify the injury sustained and work limitations experienced by the employee.  During treatment, patients are expected to be active participants in their rehabilitation program. Therapy may include skilled manual work, muscle balancing exercises, conditioning and strengthening exercises, work-specific functional rehab and modalities as needed.  The worker will be educated in relaxation, breathing, self-treatment, coping mechanisms, posture, biomechanics and work issues.

Successful outcomes have been achieved by SLBMI therapists with acute injuries, sub-acute injuries, complicated injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, chronic injuries and non-organic pain behaviors.
