Therapy and Counseling for Stress
We all have stress sometimes: some people feel stress before having to speak in public, and for others, it might occur before a first date. Sometimes stress is helpful. It can encourage you to meet a deadline, or get things done. But sometimes unexpected stress from life situations can become unmanageable, leading to some emotional distress. Stress counseling services are available at St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute.
Sometimes people may need help adjusting to a stress in their life that is more short-term (job-related stress) or other times people need help managing stress related to more chronic, on-going stressors (such as family conflict). When stressors continue and go untreated or unaddressed, stress can become chronic. Chronic stress can increase the risk of diseases like depression, heart disease and a variety of other problems.
Counseling Services at SLBMI
St. Louis Behavioral Medicine Institute integrates knowledge and techniques from the behavioral and medical sciences to provide comprehensive counseling treatment for a wide range of health problems. Since 1983, we have worked with many types of patients from those with general counseling needs to the most complex, requiring specialized multidisciplinary care.
The multidisciplinary teams (psychologists, physicians, nurses, physical therapists, spiritual directors, social workers, marriage and family therapists and other professionals) collaborate with referring clinicians and organizations. We assess each patient and tailor the most effective treatment plan.
